EYE OPENERS Speaker Seeker Group Conscience Suggests (NOT insists): - One year sobriety - One year term - You have a sponsor - Attend monthly group conscience Service Description: =================================================== - Attend other meetings to find speakers who don't normally attend eye openers. - Plan on getting turned down over half the time. Most folks don't want to get up that early. - Schedule a speaker for each Friday 7am. - Be sure to get their number when you book them. Call to remind them a day or two early in case they forgot or can't do it. This allows time to find someone new. - Make sure they know how to get to eye openers. It's hard to find if you've never been there. - Have a few backup speakers in mind who attend Eye Openers in case of a no show. - Try to get a variety of lengths of sobriety but usually at least one year. - Brief speaker on how to start meeting and how long to speak. - Plan on getting requests from the Eye Openers meeting from folks who want to tell their story. Turn down someone who has already told his store pretty recently. Accommodate someone with a birthday who has never spoken. It is up to the discretion of the speaker seeker. Ask group conscience for opinions if conflicted. - It's lots of fun but requires persistence. It can also be stressful as Friday gets close and still no speaker. - Resentments arise -- sometimes needing higher power help if there are obstacles to a successful speaker meeting. - Have fun and good luck! ===================================================
