GSR Report, Chris O, 5/10/2008:

We had our Group Inventory, there were three individual and our facilitator. Having such a small group for such a large meeting was indicative of an on-going struggle that we have at Eye-Openers; which was full developed during our session: that being an opportunity to create/foster/incubate/identify what is “GOOD” service and what are ½ measures. Additionally, we identified that Sponsorship was an enigmatic process that we could facilitate discussion from senior members, A.A. literature, and newcomers and cultivate a cultural whose goal is to have 100% Sponsorship for our members.

As a subcommittee we’ll bring our discoveries to the business meeting and god willing affect an agenda for 2008 with a theme of “Service and Sponsorship.” Hopefully, this will give us direction for new business for the remaining part of 2008.

I chaired this weeks Wednesday Chip meeting and I gave my report to the group and discussed having a theme of “Sponsorship and Service” as tools that we as a group will focus on this year. There were the particular moans and groans and comments that “this is not a business meeting,” and there was also great discussion. I stated that part of what we would be discussing in our business meeting was the possibility of having Monday’s meeting being dedicated to a round robin discussion on Service and Sponsorship and if you have a opinion that the decision about format changes are made at our business meetings and your welcome to attend. I closed my share with where I was at with “Sponsorship,” and we had some good conversations.

Dana, if possible if you could get your notes to Don so they can be posted on the website and then we can make an announcement to our members that the tools that we are developing for business meetings are posted on the website. Additionally, people holding service positions can familiarize themselves with these ideas so we can get through the business meeting more efficiently.

Lastly, I propose that we extend our meeting to 10:30 with the caveat that at 10:15 where ever we are in a process, we stop and at least get new business on the agenda.
